Jesse and I started looking for a house about a year and half ago. We quickly decided that taking a step back and enjoying the low responsibility of renting didn't look so bad after all.
Well, three months ago I really started getting the itch for a change. I had secretly been checking out local house listings online and found one just a few minutes away from our condo. (I'm pretty sure that Jesse was secretly looking at houses too!) I casually mentioned something to Jesse when we both got home from work one night and to my surprise, he was willing to take a drive by the house. A few days after that we were at a mortgage office applying for a loan.
Before Tuesday night, we had looked at about 20 homes. Some okay, some freakishly scary, but nothing amazing. We were just about to give up hope and start looking in Portland when the clouds cleared and a beam of light shone on one amazing little house in Downtown Vancouver. We instantly fell in love with this 1920s home and all signs pointed to... OFFER! So, on Wednesday the papers were signed; a straight up offer of "this is the best we can possibly do" was made and 24 hours later the offer was accepted!
I received the news while at work and luckily I have a door that shuts because it was a conversation with our realtor filled with shock, relief and a moment of, "oh shit, what did we just do?!" We are meeting with the realtor and showing it off to our biggest critics tonight: Shigeko-San, B-Rad, and PJ. Hopefully they approve of our choice! We aren't in the clear yet, but I'm hoping that with lots of happy thoughts, we will turn this accepted offer into a purchase.
Cheers to the start of our next excellent adventure!
